Hot Liquor and Process Pipe Replacement

Project Overview
The primary purpose of this project was to replace hot liquor and process pipework that had lost integrity due to stress and chemical corrosion.

Project Detail
The existing hot liquor and process pipework system at the Diageo Waterford Brewery had been experiencing systematic failures, due to a lack of design allowance for the continuous expansion and contraction of materials due product temperature variations.

Malone Engineering Group carried out a full study to design new pipe routes and brackets to incorporate natural pipe loops to allow for pipe expansion and contraction together with the installation of slide brackets and fixed anchor points.

2000 meters of stainless steel pipe was replaced over several months with carefully planned tie ins to allow the Brewery to be fully functional at all times.

This project was totally designed and managed by Malone Engineering working closely with brewery operations, quality control, process fabrication engineers and our own health and safety team who were instrumental in carrying out a design hazard analysis together with ensuring safe working methods were established and adhered to.
